2020 State of the Cultivated Meat
Good Food Institute's report on the 2020 State of the Cultivated Meat Industry explains the commercial developments, investments, technology and government regulations for the industry. The regulatory clearance of cultured chicken products in Singapore was the driver for progress toward commercial viability in other nations.
Seafood like fish-fillet, salmon and lobster emerged as major components of cultivated meat tasting events. The report mentions a host of ventures that are taking part in the cultivated meat sector through cell lines, cell culture, scaffolding and bioprocess design.
In terms of investment, 2020 saw a six times increase in comparison to 2019. A total of $350 million was invested in cultured meat enterprises with the industry’s first Series B funding round. The study assessed the technical and financial feasibility of scaling up cultivated meat production, along with government regulations pertaining to the industry in the European Union, Israel, Japan, Singapore and the United States.
