Production of chitosan-based biodegradable active films using bio-waste enriched with polyphenol propolis extract envisaging food packaging applications
This study aimed to develop environmentally friendly active films using chitosan derived from waste crayfish shells and enhanced with propolis extract, evaluating their potential for food packaging; the addition of propolis extract improved the films' properties, including thermal stability, mechanical strength, and antioxidant and antibacterial activity, making them a promising green alternative to petroleum-based synthetic polymers in addressing global concerns about plastic waste and human health.
