Reusable packaging in supply chains
The recent shift from single-use to reusable packaging has raised questions about packaging ownership, with existing literature focusing on supply chain systems using reusable packaging for bundling or transportation but paying less attention to its use for containing products. This paper reviews the extant literature on reusable packaging, considering its environmental and economic costs, logistics systems design, and implications for operations management, and offers insights and potential avenues for future research in this area.
