Sustainable Sourcing of Feedstocks for Bioplastics

This report provides an overview of renewable resources, biobased feedstocks, and biobased products. It is estimated that about 5 million tons of starch are used by the world paper industry, with 9% of global chemical sales coming from biobased chemicals. Biobased plastics and chemicals offer sustainability benefits over their fossil-based counterparts, such as reduced carbon footprint, reduced dependency on fossil resources, and additional end-of-life options.
