Single-use plastics have become a staple in the foodservice industry. While certainly convenient, managing foodservice disposables costs the U.S. approximately a billion dollars a year. This figure has grown in recent years and continues to accelerate at an alarming pace. What is worse, however, is that this cost does not account for the mismanagement of plastics, particularly at the end of life stage. When considering the unaccounted financial, social, and environmental costs of foodservice disposables, transitioning to more sustainable alternatives seems like a no-brainer.
