WM Report on Recycling

Waste Management has released a "Report on Recycling" after engaging with As You Sow and Trillium Asset Management to identify gaps in plastic recycling infrastructure, evaluate its material recovery facilities, and discuss its policy and advocacy positions on plastic recycling issues. The report includes a gap analysis conducted by RRS Consultants that examines national and regional recyclable plastic tonnage generation, as well as end markets. While the accuracy of the report's findings is influenced by several factors, including market fluidity, it offers insights into the challenges of growing post-consumer plastic recycling and the difficulty of using post-consumer content in food-grade packaging when recycled plastic is more costly than virgin plastic/resin.
